Strong Like a Demon is the fifth episode of Season 3 of Escape the Night.

Episode Summary[]

A strong man is in town and the YouTubers must prove who amongst them is strongest. Joey reveals the dark secret he’s desperately been trying to keep. As his friends turn on him, they must also try to claim the fourth artifact.

Plot[]

7 March 1978[]

As Wilmer Jones loses an arm-wrestling match with a leader of thugs, the leader asks whether to beat the head or gut. Wilmer asks for the head, and gets punched there. Back in the police station, the Carnival Master comes and gives Wilmer a corrupted artifact. He comes there as he can make Wilmer stronger than ten men, as strong like a demon. The evil in the artifact is released and Wilmer turns into the Strong Man.

13 October 1978[]

The scene goes back to Joey heading to the church, overhearing the Carnival Master's promises to several of the people who received the corrupted artifacts. In the arcade, the six discuss on confronting Joey with regards to his connection with the Society Against Evil. The six wonder off and see Joey in the church. It takes a while before Joey responds to them. Joey tells them that he has been into the town and the Carnival Master is entrapped in the church. When Colleen then says that he'd know how he got out, Joey says that he doesn't know how. Nikita reminds the group to look at the map. Calliope shows the map which reveals the police station and another carnival tent.

"You think you are stronger than me, kid? I'm stronger than ten men. I'm strong like a demon. Come to the show and prove your strength." - the map

A carney then invites them to the carnival test as they shall compete to open the Strong Man's box. The 7 choose who they are to arm-wrestle. As there are only 7 left, Manny decided to just skip the first round of arm-wrestling.

Manny opens the box and it is revealed that the Strong Man has been revealed. Manny gets the fourth artifact, but to seal the demon inside, they must find three missing pieces and place it on the artifact. He then comes along with Veronica, his girlfriend. The two capture Safiya and Rosanna, and sends them to prison.

The group decides to split up so they can both cleanse the artifact and free Rosanna and Safiya. In the prison, Rosanna starts digging in a marked spot. As she starts to dig, Safiya, Joey, Manny, and Mortimer start to figure out a way to get them out of the prison. Safiya finds a power box inside.

Meanwhile, Matt, Nikita, Colleen, and Calliope were given a ferris-wheel toy from the carnie, and realizes that it operates the big ferris-wheel as well. They start to ponder on the riddle and figure out who should go on top of the ferris-wheel and who should remain on the group. The group completes the riddle and gets the first piece of the demonic configuration. In the note that came along with first piece says that the next piece will be revealed after completing the totem pole.

The boys outside find a box with a lock, that can be unlocked by a number lock. Safiya finds a number riddle and solves it. The boys input the code and finds a winch, along with the reset code for the power box. Safiya inputs the reset code and opens up two boxes. The box inside the jail cell reveals the second piece of the pyramid; the other box reveals an extension cord for the winch. Before Safiya and Rosanna escape, Rosanna gets a Lazarus coin after some digging.

The two groups reunite and find the last part of the pyramid. It is revealed that the artifact will be cleanse after wrapping it in a holy band of leather. To get it, they must vote two men in to find a new strong man.

Discussion/Voting[]

Manny starts saying that he is useful for situations requiring strength. Matt then starts saying that they should put up Joey as he is acting shady and secretive about the Society Against Evil. While Joey starts vouching for himself, Colleen shouts out that he is a liar, that he is acting sketchy, and that he doesn't seem to care that his friends are dying.

"Liar. You're a liar! I don't believe anything that you say. Because you're the reason we are here in the first place; you know things that you're not telling us - you're being sketchy; you're friends are dying, you don't seem to care. I think you need to go home, because I think you're a liar, I do not trust you." - Colleen

Safiya suggests that Joey should tell everything if they are saving the town. Joey realizes that he needs to confess what has been happening to him. He mentioned him dying and waking up in the town. He mentioned signing a contract to save the town. Matt says that they'd take it poorly as it looks like Joey is willing to trade nine lives for his own. Shortly after, the guests start to vote.

"The first male going into the challenge is... the Detective. The second male going into the challenge is... the Record Producer." - Calliope

"Here. (loudly places badge on the table) There's no justice here!" - MatPat

Challenge (The Strong Man Challenge)[]

Before the challenge starts, Manny and Matt change outfits. The remaining survivors watch. The first one to win 3 of 5 feats of strengths will win.

The Strong Man then kills Matt. The group cleanses the artifact and the strong man is no longer. The group feels hopeless and defeated.

Trivia[]

The episode's name is said by the Carnival Master when he is converting the Strong Man.
As of people who watched the episode already, Matt dies. But he is later revived by the Harp of Lazarus in episode 7.
Despite Nikita not willing to break her nails to arm-wrestling, she tries to pick the locks of the Funhouse in episode 7.
Matt is the third to die after failing to save someone (in this case, JC in episode 2).
- However, the event of dying and failing to save someone are unrelated.
- The first two are Justine (failed to save Andrea in S1E2, died in S1E3), and Joey (failed to save Alex in S2E9, died in S2E10).
